The Core 5 Emotional Super Powers

At Emotional Super Powers, we believe kids are capable—and the right tools help them discover just how capable they are!

They don’t need us to remove every hard feeling, disappointment, mistake, or challenge from their path. They need us to help them build the tools to navigate them.

These are the Core 5 Emotional Super Powers at the heart of everything we teach, create, and share.

1. SELF-AWARENESS — Know Yourself

I know what I’m feeling and what I need.

Before children can manage what they feel, they need to understand what’s happening inside them.

Self-awareness helps kids recognize emotions, notice body signals, identify needs and triggers, understand patterns, recognize their strengths, and put words to their experiences.

When kids understand what’s happening inside them, they’re better equipped to choose what to do next.

2. CONNECTION — Build Strong Relationships

I know how to connect with others.

Kids grow stronger through connection.

They learn how to give and receive love, communicate what they need, listen, show empathy, ask for help, set healthy boundaries, repair relationships, and create a sense of belonging.

Connection gives kids a safe place to land—and the security to keep growing.

Because knowing how to love, communicate, and connect is a superpower they’ll use their entire lives.

3. EMOTIONAL REGULATION — Manage Your Emotions

I can feel big feelings without letting them take over.

The goal isn't to teach kids not to feel angry, worried, frustrated, disappointed, or overwhelmed.
It's to teach them what to do when they do.

Emotional regulation helps kids learn to pause, understand what their bodies are telling them, calm themselves, practice self-control, and choose a response instead of simply reacting.

The goal isn't to stop the feeling. It's to know what to do with it.

4. CONFIDENCE — Trust Yourself

I believe in myself and my ability to figure things out.

Confidence isn't built by making everything easy.

It's built in the moments kids try something new, make a mistake, speak up, solve a problem, make a decision, struggle a little—and discover they can figure things out.

Every one of those experiences adds another piece of evidence:

I tried.
I learned.
I figured it out.
I am capable.

That’s where real confidence begins.

5. RESILIENCE — Grow Through Hard Things

I can handle hard things and keep going.

Life won't always go the way our kids hoped.

They'll experience mistakes, disappointment, rejection, failure, change, and moments when things simply feel hard.
Resilience helps kids learn that hard doesn't mean something has gone wrong. They can adapt, problem-solve, recover, learn, try again, and keep moving forward.

We don't have to take away every hard thing. We can help our kids discover that they are strong enough to move through it.

We Can't Prepare the Road for Our Kids.
We Can Prepare Our Kids for the Road.

We do that by helping them:

Know themselves.
Connect with others.
Manage big emotions.
Believe in themselves.
Grow through hard things.

The goal isn't to raise kids who never struggle.

It's to raise kids who know what to do when they do.

Kids who can recognize what's happening inside them.
Reach for the tools they've practiced.
Ask for help when they need it.
Try again when something doesn't work.
And trust that hard moments don't define them.

So when life doesn't go as planned, a quiet voice inside them can say:

I know what I'm feeling.
I have tools I can use.
I can figure this out.
I can handle this.

That’s an Emotional Superpower.
