Week 1: Choice

The Power of the

Purposeful "Yes"

Welcome to Week 1! Look, I get it. I’m a mom of twins who are now teens—I know what it’s like to feel like your day is just a series of demands you have to meet. But here’s the secret: Motherhood shouldn't just "happen" to you. This week is about reclaiming your agency. We’re moving from "I have to" to "I choose to."

The Lesson: "No" is a Full Sentence
We often think being a "super mom" means being a "yes mom." But a "yes" to the third bake sale this month is often a "no" to your own sanity. When we say "No" to the things that drain us, we create space for the "Yeses" that actually bring us joy. Intentionality is the bridge between being busy and being present.

Let's take some time to discover what we can take off our beam, and what deserves to go back on.

Take some time to work through the following worksheets. These are tools to help you in the process of regaining your autonomy. Don't let them hang over your head or stress you out, just do them when you're ready.

Your Weekly Read

This week's book is Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less, by Greg McKeown. Want a little teaser?
"Essentialism isn’t about getting more done in less time. It’s about getting only the right things done.
Have you ever found yourself stretched too thin? Are you often busy but not productive? Do you feel like your time is constantly being hijacked? If you answered yes to any of these, the way out is the Way of the Essentialist."

Your Weekly Pod

This week's pod is The Next Right Thing with Emily Freeman, who's chatting with her friend Kendra Adachi from The Lazy Genius. The topic is "Deciding Once."

Emily describes this as simplifying our choices by deciding once (when we can) and remembering that we are the boss of our decisions and not the other way around. Sound good? Listen in for more, and then search The Lazy Genius on Apple or Spotify to keep listening.
